About
Henrique Campos (Ligeiro) is a Documentary Filmmaker and Production Soundmixer from Rio de Janeiro, now based in San Francisco-CA. Growing up in Angola and Brazil, his multicultural background has shaped his creative vision and human-centered storytelling approach that’s taken him across continents and cultures.
With over 15 years of experience, his sound work spans a wide range of projects—from the Oscar-nominated documentary The Edge of Democracy and the feature film Pacified (produced by Darren Aronofsky), to acclaimed series for Netflix, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Hulu, and PBS. He has also contributed to commercials and corporate films for major clients including Meta, Google, LinkedIn, Amazon, and others.
His career began under the mentorship of Walter Goulart, a pioneer of soundmixing in Brazil, who recorded the country’s first film with location sound — Glauber Rocha’s Antonio das Mortes, which won Best Director at the 1969 Cannes Film Festival. Over nearly a decade working alongside Goulart, Henrique developed technique and a deep appreciation for the art of sound in storytelling.
As a filmmaker, he directed and produced Domínio Público (Public Domain), a widely viewed documentary that examining urban transformation, social injustice, and corruption in the lead-up to Brazil’s World Cup and Olympic Games. The film set crowdfunding records, aired on television, and reached over a million viewers worldwide.
Today, Henrique continues to work at the intersection of science, film, sound, and social impact—partnering with institutions like UNICEF, UC Berkeley, and international NGOs to create compelling and meaningful content around education, health, and human rights.
He studied film and editing at Darcy Ribeiro Film School in Rio de Janeiro and Production Soundmixing SICA in Buenos Aires, later expanding into a course of immersive storytelling at UC Berkeley.
Whether recording sound in remote field locations or crafting immersive audio for broadcast platforms, Henrique brings a calm, collaborative presence to set—valuing clear communication, adaptability, and a commitment to storytelling with purpose.
